James Stroud Announces New Label

<!–[endif]–>

James Stroud, the award-winning Nashville producer, has accomplished a lot during his career. After forming The Writers Group, a thriving Nashville publishing company, he helped Giant Records and DreamWorks Nashville come to fruition and was named Billboard's "Top Country Producer" two years in a row. His producing credits include Alabama, Tim McGraw, Clint Black, Willie Nelson, Melissa Etheridge and The Neveille Brothers, to name a few. To date, Stroud has produced albums that have collectively sold over 52 million copies, as well as more than 90 No. 1 records.

With the launch of Stroudavarious Records, Stroud's new independent record label, the producer has added another notch on his list of accomplishments. The label will be distributed by RED a division of Sony BMG Entertainment, an industry leader in independent distribution. "Even though the business model of the music industry changes, the one constant has been the importance of the artists and their songs," said Stroud. "The vision of Stroudavarious Records will be for the creativity to take precedent and allow the music to take care of the business." The artist roster and staff members for Stroudavarious Records will be announced in coming weeks.

ON THE SIDE OF MY HEAD

    SO I LEARNED TO STAY
    OUT OF HIS WAY
    BUT THATS ALL RIGHT
    CAUSE IM OKEY

    ANOTHER DAY
    AND SO I SAY

    THAT RIBBONS AND BOWS
    TO UNWRAP THE CRADLE
    LEFT ON YOUR DOOR

    THE MAN ON THE CORNER
    DRESSED IN RED
    THE SMELL OF WHISKEYS

    HE’S WEARIN A SMILE
    THAT CANT HIDE THE PAIN
    MIGHT AS WELL PUT
    A GUN TO HIS HEAD

SO HE SAY’S, GET IT OVER WITH

SO WHAT’S NEXT, IS CHRISTMAS OVER YET???????

    ===========
BECAUSE YOU SAID SO / ANOTHER ANGEL FALLS

I HAD A BAD FEELING BOUT THIS

I COULD FEEL YOU BURNIN UP
YOUR EYES SHINING IN THE DARK
YOUR BROKE LIKE FIRE ON GLASS
    TEARS POURING THROUGH THE CRACKS

    AS THE FEVER GROWS HIGHER
    YOUR TALKIN IN YOUR SLEEP
BOUT WHAT YOU WONT DARE TELL ME
I HOLD MY BREATH TO HEAR YOU WHISPER
    =====
DO YOU LOVE ME? AND SO YOU SAID NO
YOU SAID NO IT WASNT ME
I BIT MY LIPS HARD NOT TO SCREAM
OF WHAT YOU’VE DONE AND WHAT IVE SEEN
I AINT THE ONE WHO MAKES YOU SIGN
UNDERNEATH THE COVERS DEAP IN THE NIGHT
(I WONDER) WHATS MY NAME GONNA BE TONIGHT????

I HOLD MY BREATH TO HEAR YOU WHISPER
YOUR WHISPER SAID NO IT WASNT ME

YOU HAVE TO SAY I NEED TO KNOW
DID YOU EVER LOVE ME? YOUR WHISPER SAID NO
IT WASNT ME, I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN
BY THE WAY YOU LOOKED AT ME AND CRIED
THEN AGAIN YOU NEVER SAID A WORD
A PERFECT WORLD BEFORE THE FALL
SO JUST LIKE THAT ANOTHER ANGEL FALLS
    JUST BECAUSE YOU SAID SO
    =====
IN A HURRY I DRESS TO LEAVE

  5. Dear Mr.James or reader
My name is Matt Marshall, i am a local Artist here in Nashville. I heard through friends on the row that you were starting your own label. Congrats! I am not a song-writer, just singer/entertainer. I have been recording songs here for about 5yrs. Mr. Tom Shapiro has been pitchn me songs along with Kelly Lovelace and Roger Murrah of Bug Music, also picked up a few songs from Mark Springer and Bill Anderson, Tracy Bryd, Tony Martin and Mark Nesler, Frank Rogers and Tim Nichols as well. Was wondering if i culd drop a cd by sometime or you can look me up on myspace.com/mattmarshallmusic. Thanks so much.
    Matt Marshall

  6. Dear James…It’s been a long time, but I met you when Giant was just cranking up. I was in town pitching for my NC. writers and you said to stay in touch, as you always liked that NC/R & B influence on the country material I had at the time…Still got em and still trying to pitch em. Award winning writer from the NC band “Nantucket”…Tommy Redd, has uncanny wonderful songs. Would you like to hear one or two? Getting old but still crazy for the real stuff…….Regards, Dan Dixon

  7. Hello, James.
I have fond memories of you and your folks and Vicki, in Shreveport, in 1976. I was in the Air Force, and was friends with your family. Played you a tune, in your mom’s living room….
Anyway, I just found you online, and maybe I’ll send you some originals. I kept practicing my writing, as you suggested decades ago, and I think you’ll be pleased at all that has come to fruition.
    God bless you, friend.
    Mark (Yorloff) Houston

  8. James, it has been no “free lunch”, my friend: but the music never stopped. What else do we know? “And the beat goes on.” You’re so deserving of all you have earned. I remember recording at Malaco before all of the mics and booth were finished – then passing through in about ’72 while doing the motel circuits, you showed me this cool drum fill… and at Bachelor’s 3 in Ft. Lauderdale. Please don’t ever retire! The artists and the industry needs you. MUSIC needs you!
Love & Peace, always! David Shelton

  9. James I first met you years when I was a regular entertainer at
Alamo Village in Brackettville ,Texas when you and some of your friends were on a motorcycle trip. I am now a staff songwriter for Big Sugar Publishing here in Texas. I have
a catalog of over fifty songs I feel would be good for many of the
    country artist you represent.
    Thank you,and GodBless you
