Acoustic guitar wizard Willy Porter can choose from a vast, vast selection of custom-built acoustics that will easily capture his level of playing genius. When it’s time to capture the unique style of Porter’s technique, he chose Guild to manufacture his signature line of acoustics.

This is a jumbo-sized guitar, all in all, but it has an intimate feel like a late ‘50s Gibson around the neck and body. It isn’t daunting like many Jumbo bodies; I have found that J-400s and similar guitars are beautiful instruments but very boat-like–hard to really maneuver, unless the player is a giant or has sausage fingers like BB King or Red Volkaert.

I could be completely delusional and twisted, but every time I go back and pick up this guitar I get the undying sensation to play “Cat Scratch Fever.”  I don’t want to tick off the upper brass at Fender to deeply, but this acoustic reminds me of a 445 hollow body, but an acoustic. I ain’t sayin’ nothin’ else on all that.

This acoustic is a combination of old world guitar building and modern technology, in addition to specifications from Porter himself. The sonic diversity is unbelievable, ranging from the slightest sensitivity to booming domination. One notable specification is its ability to handle multiple open tunings without compromising the sound and playability.

It features an AAA Sitka spruce top, solid flame maple back and sides,  a bolt-on mahogany neck and patent pending Guild Graphite Neck Bolt System, bone bridge pins for the bass strings and a Fishman Ellipse Matrix pick-up system.
