(formerly VirtuosoWorks) brought music composition and performance to a whole new level with Notion, by putting performance at center stage with composition and notation, allowing you to work without filling a room up with musicians.  Notion has taken care of all the musical instrument layering and MIDI mapping for you, so all that’s left is being creative.  The use of expansive multi-sampled libraries isn’t necessary either, as the entire London Symphonic Orchestra has been meticulously recorded and sampled to closely match every nuance of your musical composition during a performance.  And if the standard sound library isn’t enough, Notion has an ever-expanding library of sound kits for you to work with as well.

With the power of Notion’s performance mode and NTempo Staff, rehearsals and live performances are also possible.  By tapping on keys on your computers/laptops keyboard, you can control the tempo of your music, in real-time, with all the tempo changes and dramatic pauses your heart desires.  It’s with this ability, that Notion also becomes a very powerful teaching tool for music educators.  Rehearsal sessions or music lessons can be prepared in advance for a very flexible way to perform with or without other musicians.

Even as simple as Notion has made creating and performing your music, there is still a full set of MIDI and audio features which allows integration with other applications from MusicXML Import/Export to saving your music as a .wav file.  It’s difficult to put Notion into any one category of music software, as it brings so much to the table in terms of music notation and performance.
