The Audix SCX25A flexed its muscles as an extremely agile microphone. Used primarily for vocals for this session, I was pleasantly surprised to witness the definition and warmth that this mic illustrated. This cardioid condenser has a frequency span of 20Hz to 20kHz. There is no external shock mount needed! It is made with a machined brass ring that houses an internal shock mount isolating the capsule from the body of the mic. This reduces overbearing noises caused by vibrations that might travel up the stand. I was impressed with the pristine sonic clarity this attractive looking mic had to offer. Its slim profile makes proper placement second nature. I believe that this mic can rise to the challenge of properly reproducing just about any sound source it is positioned in front of. I would love to hear it as a stereo pair for drum overheads or on a piano. This mic is perfect for bluegrass, and did an exceptional job.
