I never knew iTunes was using DRM but that's the same platform that Spotify is currently using. I would predict that although iTunes is making steps forward their going to lose in the end now that Spotify is basically providing legal music piracy for very cheap. I don’t use iTunes for the very reason that it takes a lot of effort to download songs onto my MP3. I am glad that they are finally taking steps to accommodate people who don’t own an iPod. I think they will get more business now.

it looks like the whole free thing isn’t that simple. I’ve seen people reporting that only US customers will be offered the DRM-free music yesterday .And the upgrade is a all-or-nothing prospect, which means you can’t choose which tracks to upgrade. Also,I hope Apple gives more options on upgrading my original purchases. I have hundreds of music in my itunes library,and I'm counting the money that will cost if I update all of them! So, I still use Wondershare media converter to help me,it is much economical. I'll just wait for Apple to carry out more actions
