Maybe it's just my age but I wonder where tomorrow's STANDARDS will come from. Where's the next Georgia On MY MInd or STAR DUST? Carol KIng and James Taylor are already Standards. What about Jimmy Webb? Isn't Galveston already a standard? Aren't much of the Beatles already Standards? Maybe Diane Warren's songs are standarads all over the world; I just recently started studying her myself.. Maybe she's lready written something as hsarmonicly omplex as Webb's UP UP AND AWAY. I don't know, I've only rewritten 3 of her ideas. Maybe chromatic moves like Gershwin and Ellington are already out there and I just don't know where to find them.
