The Village Voice has published an article detailing a passionately written note about Bruce Springsteen by Joe Strummer of The Clash. The letter was written in response to a request made by documentary film producer Mark Hagen. Hagen had wanted Strummer’s take on Springsteen for use in the 1998 documentary Bruce Springsteen: A Secret History. Strummer writes: “Bruce is great…. If you don’t agree with that, you’re a pretentious Martian from Venus.”
