Inspired by the many Grammy®-winning songwriters who have attended the famed Berklee College of Music, including 7-time winner John Mayer, Berkleemusic is launching two new online multi-course certificate programs to help singer-songwriters perfect their craft and to become more well-rounded musicians and lyricists. Students can learn from the same instructors who taught Mayer and other Grammy winners, including Pat Pattison, who developed the curriculum for the only songwriting major in the country.

Beginning with its spring semester April 5th, Berkleemusic will offer singer-songwriters the opportunity to hone the skills they need to make the most of their technique and talent.
Berkleemusic’s 5-course Professional Singer-Songwriter Certificate will help students learn what lyrical style, song structure, mood, and tempo will work best for a lyric and how to write music that helps tell the story. This program includes Voice Technique 101, Lyric Writing: Tools and Strategies, Guitar Chords 101, Songwriting Workshop: Writing Hit Songs, and Pop and Rock Vocals.
While earning Berkleemusic’s 3-course Specialist Singer-Songwriter Certificate, students will learn how to frame their melodies in captivating harmonies and voicings, learn to play those voicings on the guitar, and polish their vocal delivery to maximize tone and endurance in these courses. This program includes Voice Technique 101, Guitar Chords 101, and Songwriting Workshop: Harmony.
