On May 4, Canadian rock collective Broken Social Scene will release their fifth album, Forgiveness Rock Record, on Arts & Crafts Records. The album features all-new material written by frontman Kevin Drew, and guests galore, including Leslie Feist and members of Pavement, Metric, and The Sea and Cake. The album was recorded last year in Chicago and Toronto, and was produced by Tortoise/Sea and Cake’s John McEntire.

The band, whose on-stage membership has at times included Feist and Elizabeth Powell of Land Of Talk, first made waves here in 2002 with the sprawling, impassioned You Forgot It In People, followed by 2005’s self-titled Broken Social Scene. Hear the new single, the six minute-plus “World Sick,” here, and read an interview with Drew about the creation of the new album here.
