Songs You Need To Hear: Griffin House, “Head For The Hills”

Videos by American Songwriter

Nashville loves its “story songs.” Here’s a story that hits close to home.

“I sat in my bedroom and wrote ‘Head For The Hills’ while the rain pounded Nashville and caused the city to flood,” writes singer-songwriter Griffin House, whose excellent new album, The Learner, takes a hard look at life and love. “When I saw the destruction in the aftermath and thought about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, my mind wanted to make sense of all the natural and man made disaster that seems to be occurring at an unusual pace, and my heart wanted to sing relief into the hearts of the people who have suffered loss from these disasters. I headed to Louisiana to capture some images of the land and the people in the midst of their stories.”
