Wyclef Jean Pens Song In Response To Failed Presidential Bid

Written by August 26th, 2010 at 4:53 pm

Wyclef Jean has written and recorded a new song, “Pou Kepa,” in response to the news that he’s been rejected as a candidate for the Haitian presidency by the country’s electoral council.

Wyclef has vowed to pursue other options to fight the decision. “This is my new song contesting the CEP, in Creole,” the rapper tweeted. “We want equal rights and justice.”

You’ll have to speak Creole to understand it, but the emotion it contains is universal.

Listen to “Pou Kepa” here.

I wish I were as cool as Wyclef. I love this new song. I have no clue what he is saying but it sounds wonderful. The guitar work is so bad-arse. Wyclef is one of those rare artists that is becoming almost “mythical”. I’m glad I get to bear witness to it happening.
