Everybody, it seems, loves Coldplay’s “Vida La Vida.” Weezer included their version of the song as a bonus track on their new Hurley album. Joe Satriani, Creaky Boards, and Yusuf Islam would have loved to make some money off it (they each accused the band of plagiarism – it didn’t work out). Other artists who’ve performed the track include Lady Gaga, Pet Shop Boys, and Westlife. And oh yeah, rappers Swizz Beatz and Shawty Lo have sampled it.

I like Swift’s interpretation. The acoustics are fine. A soft, gentle spin on a great song. The wistful, melancholy aspects are brought out, effective and interesting. A different, melancholy feel. Kudos to the kid.
