Diamond Doves: Indie Horns Go Electro-Psych

Videos by American Songwriter

Diamond Doves, named after an Australian bird, have been the dudes behind the scenes in Elvis Perkins In Dearland, and have also played a modern-day Memphis Horns for indie bands like My Morning Jacket and Bon Iver. But Diamond Doves don’t quite fit in with the folk circuit anymore. Nick Kinsey, Brigham Brough and Wyndham Garnett make catchy electro-psych that meets somewhere between T-Rex’s ’70s glam rock and Animal Collective’s woozy electronic sound collages. On “Club Night,” four-to-the-floor drumming creates a bedrock for all sorts of squirmy synth melodies and sassy singing. Stream “Club Night” and “Hey Lady” below.
