It was 20 years ago today… Perry Farrell taught the world to play. Or at least, the world of alternative music. This year, the Jane’s Addiction frontman’s groundbreaking festival Lollapalooza will be headlined by some of the biggest bands in the world; Eminem, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, and Muse. Also on the bill are My Morning Jacket, A Perfect Circle, Cee Lo Green, deadmau5, Damian Marley and Nas, The Cars and Ween.

But that’s not all. You also get Bright Eyes, Arctic Monkeys, Big Audio Dynamite, Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, Flogging Molly, Cold War Kids, and many, many more — some 130 bands in all. The Festival will take place August 5-7 in Chicago’s Grant Park. Fans can expect gourmet food, an interactive time capsule of past Lollapalooza moments, and an endless array of dance and electronic artists.

“As excited as I am to watch this year’s legends perform at Lolla,” says Farrell, “I am also feeling the enthusiasm for the younger groups who are just now breaking. I take great delight in knowing that for the past 20 years we’ve given so many new artists a prestigious stage and a massive audience to play in front of.”
