Videos by American Songwriter

Get ready: a multi-format reissue of Nirvana’s watershed album Nevermind is set to drop September 27. The reissue will be available in standard, 2-CD Deluxe and 4-CD/1 DVD Super Deluxe editions through Universal Music Enterprises.

The Deluxe edition features the remastered album with both live and studio B-sides, previously unreleased BBC recordings, boombox recordings of such tracks as “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “On A Plain” and “Come As You Are” being rehearsed by the band, and pre-album demos recorded at Butch Vig’s Smart Studios. There’s also a 4-LP vinyl pressing featuring the same 40 tracks from the CDs.

The limited Super Deluxe edition includes all of the above as well as the Devonshire Mixes, which is the album version produced and mixed by Butch Vig, rather than the commercial release with mixing by Andy Wallace. The Super Deluxe includes a CD and DVD of Nirvana’s Halloween 1991 performance at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre. The DVD also features the four music videos to come from Nevermind and a 90-page book of rarely and never-before-seen photographs and album visuals. The reissues will be available as digital downloads.

Through rare recordings of rehearsals and demos, these releases allow listeners to experience the cultural and musical iconography of Nevermind anew and glimpse the gods of grunge build their sophomore album from the ground up.
