CMJ Music Marathon: Day 3
Brooklyn trio Apollo Run took the stage at Converse’s Rubber Tracks studio with their melodic, piano-driven pop-rock.
At the Studio at Webster Hall, alt-rockers Recover celebrated the 10 year anniversary of their debut album, Rodeo & Picasso, at a showcase featuring artists from Fenway Recordings management. With an uncompromising performance, their driving sound filled the packed venue.
We Are Scientists
The perennially hilarious core Scientists, singer/guitarist Keith Murray and bassist Chris Cain, charmed their way through another intimate set at the Studio at Webster Hall. Their characteristically tight performance ran through one fan favorite after another, from “Can’t Lose” to “After Hours,” reinforcing their reputation for catchy indie rock.
French electro-pop producer Yuksek made up for his cancelled appearance at Wednesday’s Fat Baby showcase when he took over Santos Party House the following night. Featuring irresistibly danceable tracks like “Extraball,” he easily held court with his crisply-constructed sound.
