These days the only time he still feels he’s alive
Is when he’s got that microphone in his hands

She’s the weekday wino waitress at the Westcott Bar and Grill
Serving Scotch to businessmen who will never get their fill.
She got a dead son in Dallas
An ex-husband in L.A.
Each day she gets up and somehow finds a way

And it’s a blue sky above you
And a cold world down below
Life is made by the living and all you have to do is let it go

And its half way through a Tuesday and he walks out for a meal
Takes a left on Wescott Street and spots a happy hour deal
The waitress brings him menu and she smiles in such a way that he feels somehow It just became a better day

He tripped through the door and found his way to a corner booth
The way she wore his hair brought thoughts of a sweetheart from her youth
She handed him a menu and began to walk away but something in his eyes made Her just want to stay.
