Sessions: Akron/Family

After playing Nashville’s Mercy Lounge the night before, the experimental folk trio Akron/Family stopped by the AS offices and cooked up a few tunes before hitting the road to Chicago.

We loaned the band a couple of Taylor acoustic guitars and a Fishman Loudbox amp, and Nashville concert promoter Ryan Bruce managed to rustle up a floor tom for the guys (Thanks, Ryan!). It was a great session, and one that definitely spoke to our inner pixie. Be sure to check out their performance of “River,” which transmogrified American Songwriter into an enchanted forest (despite the suspicious leerings of Merle Haggard).

“River”

“Love And Space”

“Gravelly Mountains Of The Moon”

“Canopy”

Recorded and mixed by Steve Martin. Video shot and edited by Ian Maravalli.
