Lollapalooza Lineup Boasts Black Sabbath, Black Keys, Red Hot Chili Peppers

Lollapalooza will return to Chicago’s Grant Park on August 3-5, with a lineup that features the reunion of several bands — late ’60s metal pioneers Black Sabbath, 90’s alt-rockers Afghan Whigs, and modern hardcore heroes At The Drive-In. Also appearing are Jack White, who’ll perform songs from his debut solo album, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, who will also headline this year’s Bonnaroo, Icelandic indie rockers Sigur Ros, The Shins, Passion Pit, Florence + The Machine, Alabama Shakes and many more.

“This year our multi-colored lollipop swirls black and white with Black Sabbath, Jack White, and The Black Keys,” says Janes Addiction frontman and Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell. “Two Electronic acts, Justice and Avicii will be presented on the main stages… Can it get any heavier in the park?”

When asked if the red white and black color scheme was intentional, Farrell told Spin: “I intended on finding three groups that had to have the word ‘black’ or ‘white’ or ‘red’ and I thought about it and I thought about it and it just hit me: Why not Black Sabbath, Black Keys, Red Hot Chili Peppers or Jack White? And they all said yes at the same time and then I went back to bed.”
