Fresh from their stints in Japan and Australia, My Morning Jacket have announced a slew of August tour dates here in the U.S. The pioneering rock band, who have drafted opening acts Band of Horses, Trombone Shorty, Trampled By Turtles and Shabazz Palaces, will donate a dollar from ticket sales to various charities.

Says Band of Horses’ singer Lee Bridwell: “So psyched to hit the road with our buddies and (hopefully) warm you all up for the greatest band going.”

My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James returns the compliment, writing: “We are delighted to be sharing the stage with pals in Band of Horses. We danced a beautiful dance together at Madison Square Garden and there is a lot of love between our camps. It’s gonna be a good old-tyme thrill ride!”

James will also join Jay Farrar, Will Johnson, and Anders Parker at the Newport Folk Festival in July to promote their album of Woody Guthrie songs New Multitudes. Read our interview with James about the New Multitudes project here.
