American Songwriter, Songspace, and Martin Guitar have announced “The Pub Deal”— a one of a kind contest that will give away a year-long, $20,000 publishing contract with HoriPro Entertainment Group, Inc.

“Martin Guitar is thrilled to be partnering with American Songwriter, American Songspace and HoriPro on “The Pub Deal” to help discover great new songwriting talent,” said Amani Duncan, VP of brand marketing, Martin Guitar. “Martin Guitar has a long and storied history with many of the country’s best songwriters, and we are always excited to support gifted new songwriters!”

The competition is open to songwriters of all levels and will run for 10 weeks beginning September 12, 2012. Songwriters are asked to enter their three best songs for consideration at www.americansongspace.com. American Songwriter, Martin Guitars, and a panel of judges will select 25 Finalists from which the “Top 5” will then be selected for an audition process directly with HoriPro. Auditions will consist of co-writing sessions with HoriPro songwriters and interviews with the publishing company’s staff.

HoriPro services catalogs as diverse as George Strait and KISS and represents a staff of songwriters that includes Dean Dillon and Phil O’Donnell. They have offices in Nashville, Los Angeles and Tokyo, Japan.

HoriPro Senior Vice President Butch Baker said, “Between Martin Guitar’s audience and the American Songwriter readership, we could find the next Harlan Howard out there somewhere through this process. And we’re excited to do the work to help develop a great songwriter.”

“I’m very proud to have our brand associated with the concept. Unlike a typical publishing agreement the songwriter’s salary isn’t an advance,” added Robert Clement, Co-Publisher of American Songwriter Magazine. “They’ll have the opportunity to earn money right out of the gate, without that big recoupable cost.  It’s a songwriter’s dream.”
