American Songwriter Live: Simone Felice

Videos by American Songwriter

Here at American Songwriter, we’ve long been fans of all things Felice Brothers. Their folk-punk swagger and dark romanticism jibes with the rhythms of our own feral hearts. So we were naturally thrilled when one of the brothers, Simone, stopped by our office to play a few tunes.

Simone, who left The Felice Brothers band in 2009 to focus on other projects, played Nashville in August in support of his debut solo album. Felice wrote and recorded the songs for the self-titled record while recovering from emergency open-heart surgery, a procedure he underwent in 2009 due to a congenital heart defect.

Watch Felice perform the song “Charade” from the solo album (with Simi Stone on violin) below, and also check out his performance of “If You Ever Get Famous,” from his Nashville show at The Cannery Ballroom.

Audio recorded and mixed by Steve Martin. Video shot and edited by Neal Dahlgren.
