Video Debut: Piney Gir, “Friends & Neighbours”

Videos by American Songwriter

Check out the playful new video from Piney Gir, a Kansas-born, UK-based indie-pop artist and festival staple. “Friends & Neighbours” hails from her album Geronimo!, which was produced by Jonestown Massacre’s Rob Companella and features a horn section led by Tom Bennellick, who played horns on The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

“‘Friends & Neighbours’ features our guitarist Growler’s little girl, Rose,” Gir tells American Songwriter. “The first time I met her she was 2 and we were playing at a festival alongside Mr. Tumble. If you don’t know who Mr. Tumble is, he’s like a rock star to 2 year olds. She even got to meet Mr. Tumble and our band was featured on his BBC show, neat ay? The first thing she ever said to me was “I am trying to find the monster tree,” in a creepy, growly voice, and I knew this girl needed to be in one of my videos… She is just too cute and crazy! It was filmed by her uncle Foxy.”
