ARTIST: Jameson Elder

SONG:Love Me Like You Do

BIRTHDATE: 10/26/1988

BIRTHPLACE: Atlanta, GA

AMBITIONS: To make a living playing music! Anything beyond that is bonus!

TURN-OFFS: When people try too hard to be nice. The phrase “Bless your/his/her heart,” and “Oh! you play guitar! That’s amazing! Wait, you don’t have a stable income?”… *moves on to the guy who works in finance*

TURN-ONS: Skinny jeans, scarves, awkward moments, laughter, good taste in music, fully embraces guilty pleasures and 90s music.

DREAM GIG: Opening up for Springsteen anywhere (John Tumminello wants me to say at Musician’s Corner).

MOVIES I’VE SEEN MORE THAN ONCE: Lord of The Rings (hands down my favorite), The Princess Bride, All of the Dark Knight films, Wayne’s World.

CELEBRITY CRUSH: Young Stevie Nicks, Natalie Portman (post Phantom Menace), or the girl who plays Daenerys in Game of Thrones

CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: That would easily be my high school friend Justin. A.D.D. + No fear is a pretty ridiculous combination.

5 THINGS EVERY MAN SHOULD OWN: Led Zeppelin I-IV and a good pair of leather shoes

MY NIGHTLY RITUAL BEFORE BED: Well right now I’m slowly working my way through “War & Peace” by Leo Tolstoy. That will probably be my nightly ritual for the next 6 months at least.

I WROTE THIS SONG: like so many songs, this one came out of love lost. It resides in that weird tension between anger and missing someone dearly and wishing they were by your side again. When I wrote it, it was all scattered thoughts that I just wrote stream of consciousness. Turns out that feeling of scattered and conflicting emotions became the highlight of the song. It opens up with this sense of shock and confusion. I distinctly remember writing the line “No one’s ever loved me like you do” and feeling that the dichotomy of that realization with a feeling of loneliness was exactly what I was trying to communicate. Musically, it’s the most aggressive song I’ve ever written. I think this is mostly because of having no idea what to do with so many emotions that seemed to contradict one another.
