Videos by American Songwriter

ARTIST: Steelism

SONG: “9 to 5 Jive”

BIRTHDATE: Autumn of 2010 on the first Caitlin Rose U.K. tour.

BIRTHPLACE: Steelism was actually conceived in London, but born in Nashville.

AMBITIONS: Steelism Box Set featuring all of your favorite instrumental classics in one neat package (Artwork by Rachel Briggs) followed by a Time-Life commercial presented by Daryl Hall and the drummer from Foreigner.

TURN-OFFS: When pedal steel and guitar are not in harmony together.

TURN-ONS: Our funky rhythm section of Jon Radford (drums) & Mike Rinne (bass). And the man of the hour, Jimmy Matt Rowland on keys!

DREAM GIG: We’ve always dreamed of playing at The Basement in Nashville with good friends + performances from Caitlin Rose, Andrew Combs, & Evan P. Donohue… oh wait! That’s this Thursday night, Oct. 25.

MY GO TO FEEL-GOOD RECIPE: Sazerac Cocktail: 3 oz Rye Whiskey, 3/4 oz simple syrup, & 4 dashes of Peychaud Bitters stirred in a mixing glass with ice. Rinse a separate chilled glass with Absinthe. Strain the whiskey mixture into the Absinthe-rinsed glass and garnish with a lemon twist. Bam… Sazerac Cocktail!

CELEBRITY CRUSH: Lloyd Green and Steve Cropper, handsome chaps with chops.

5 THINGS EVERY MAN SHOULD OWN: Steelism 7″ Single, Sho-Bud Pedal Steel, Fender Telecaster, Fender Amplifier, and a dapper suit.

PETS: Jeremy has a Basset Hound named Layla Lou. Spencer is working on a jackalope taxidermy collection.

WORDS TO LIVE BY: No words, just instrumental music please.

I WROTE THIS SONG: We wrote “9 to 5 Jive” in Germantown after drinking a couple espresso shots whilst listening to Dick Dale, Herman Dune, and Os Mutantes.
