Song Premiere: Tamarin, “Half Drained”

Take a listen to “Half Drained,” from Philadelphia indie-folk band Tamarin’s upcoming debut album Shake The Ghost.

“‘Half Drained’ is about the instantaneous and blurry recollections that smells, images, music, faces, etc. seem to trigger,” muses lead vocalist Alex Malamy. “A sort of instant emotional response that lacks any real place or time and seeking these evocations to maintain the sedation. Like listening to a song over and over so you can keep riding that emotion or memory. At the time that I was writing this song, Washington could have meant D.C., Seattle, or Twin Peaks — it didn’t matter. These three places were all one non-place where I really wanted to be. At the same time, there’s an awareness of the frivolousness of all of it — memories, dreams, how you choose to remember things, and what to do once you’ve acknowledged that it’s all really trivial – move on, half full or half drained.”

Shake The Ghost is due October 9.
