Daily Discovery: Aly Tadros, “Sweet On Me”

Videos by American Songwriter

ARTIST: Aly Tadros

SONG: “Sweet On Me”

BIRTHDATE: Nov. 22, 1986

BIRTHPLACE: Laredo, Texas

AMBITIONS: Build a network of volunteer gigs for touring musicians, make a damn good living doing what I love, tour with my string section, run the Chicago Marathon, make people’s lives better.

TURN-OFFS: Misuse of the word “literally,” cynicism, complaining.

TURN-ONS: Chivalry, passion, a dude in the kitchen, ambition, bad puns and double-entendres (I like boys that talk good.)

DREAM GIG: Carnegie Hall with orchestra.

MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY ACTIVITY: 4th of July on the beach.

CELEBRITY CRUSH: Robert Downey, Jr. circa 1997, back when he needed saving. I was a weird kid.

BEST WAY TO GET A MAN’S ATTENTION: Is it terrible that my first thought was, “take off your clothes?” I mean, that should do it.

5 THINGS EVERY WOMAN SHOULD OWN: A journal, a dog, sneakers, little black dress, and spanx.

WORDS TO LIVE BY: “After they had explored all the suns in the universe, and all the planets of all the suns, they realized that there was no other life in the universe, and that they were all alone. And they were very happy, because then they knew it was up to them to become all the things they had imagined they would find.” – Lanford Wilson, The 5th of July.

I WROTE THIS SONG: after spending a few days on a farm in East Texas. Completely drunk in love.
