Jacob Jones knows how to throw a house party. Margaritas? Check. Dancing? Check. Enough comfort food to soak up the alcohol? Of course. Ray Charles on the stereo, cranked as high as it’ll go? You bet.

“Play it Loud, Ray!” is Jones’ new single. Stacked high with trumpet, trombone, boogie-woogie piano and electric guitar, it’s the sort of old-school tune that could’ve been written 60 years ago, back before rock & roll and country started going their separate ways. An appearance by Brittany Howard, frontwoman for the Alabama Shakes, helps give the song some modern firepower.

When it came time to film a music video, Jones turned to director Steve Condon. The two rounded up some well-dressed friends, stocked Steve’s home with booze and urged everyone to go nuts. The result? See for yourself.

“This video was actually shot at Steve’s house after only a couple days of planning,” Jones tells us. “We redecorated his entire house in hours, with the help of Nashville’s Old Made Good, and then just threw a party. The whole song is about a party I had years ago, so we wanted to throw an exaggerated version of that. All the shots of everyone drinking are real and they kept going way after the shoot was over. Sadly, though, the fried chicken got cold before anyone ate it…”
