Full Album Stream: Mree, Winterwell

Mree-3
“There’s something about winter that seems to resonate with me and my music,” says indie-folk songwriter Mree, “and at first, I knew I wanted to try and capture it. But after taking the time to let the music evolve, winter became Winterwell.”

She’s talking about her new album, a collection of experimental folk songs that mix acoustic guitars and bubbling piano with splashes of electronica. The tunes are organic one minute and ambient the next, like a female Bon Iver, and they pack a cool punch… even when it’s 90 degrees outside.

“I wanted these songs to be able to put you in a state of mind where you can not only hear, but feel the music,” she adds. “To place you, for example, in the middle of the hollowed echoes and beautiful bitterness of winter in the middle of the summer.”
