Chris Carrabba sounds a lot happier nowadays. With his new folksy four-piece, Twin Forks, the Dashboard Confessional frontman turns his back on sad-eyed emo-pop and focuses on stomping, orchestral Americana instead. The acoustic guitar remains… but that’s the only holdover from Carrabba’s MTV Unplugged days.

Twins Forks made their official debut earlier this summer with “Cross My Mind,” a tune that mixed mandolins and whistled riffs into the same simple, sunny package. They really prove their country cred on this unreleased cover of Hank Williams’ “I Saw the Light,” though. Thick harmonies? Check. Breakneck, barn-burning pace? Check. Twang? Just enough to set the mood.

Download the song here, and catch Twin Forks on the road this fall.
