The Speedbumps, a promising Americana band hailing from Kent, Ohio, are releasing The Harbors We Seek on November 29. The album, the band’s third, was produced by Jay Alton (The Lost Revival) and mastered by Brian Lucey (Arctic Monkeys, JEFF The Brotherhood, Bombino, Dr. Dog). Since forming in 2007, they’ve shared the stage with Matt Nathanson, Amos Lee, Andrew Bird and Red Wanting Blue.

After six days of recording The Harbors We Seek in the creative isolation of a cabin in the middle of the Pennsylvania woods, indie-folk band The Speedbumps came back with an album full of warm, natural sounds and the occasional background accompaniment of a singing bird or barking dog.

The record’s lyrics were inspired by singer Eric Urycki’s ongoing anxiety condition. “I have just enough anxiety that when bad stuff happens, it just means more to me. Writing songs is simply how I deal with it,” he says.

Listen to the album track “Chasing You Down” below.

“‘Chasing You Down’ is a song about the total frustration of navigating long term relationships, says Urykcki. “It’s that point when you just can’t push anymore to make things work, so you’re willing to walk away.”
