Video Premiere: Olivia and the Mates, “Ruby, Baby”

Before the Pink Ladies of Grease, there were the four members of the delinquent girl gang in the 1956 exploitation film The Violent Years. It was these types of rebellious ladies that inspired Olivia and the Mates‘ “Ruby, Baby,” a track about the often hazy difference between good girls and bad girls.

The video for “Ruby, Baby,” one of the songs off of the Mates’ new EP Interregnum, intercuts rough footage of singer Olivia Mancini belting the track with scenes from The Violent Years.
