The Artist: Lili Haydn, the “Jimi Hendrix of violin,” according to funk legend George Clinton.
The Song: “Sea Of Gold,” fromĀ  her new EP How I Got My Brains Back, out April 15th.
Songwriter Says: This tune was inspired by Joseph Campbell’s Power of Myth, in which he describes a woman who dreamt of herself laying on a bed of rocks. Inside these rocks was locked all her treasure. Campbell said that as she opened up her heart, her dream changed, and this time, the treasure in the rocks began to pour out. I was really moved by this image, wanting so much to connect and share my gifts with the world, and I started to imagine the gold inside me pouring out into a Sea of Gold, a kind of primordial soup, where all life and creativity is born, where we all connect.
