Two months ago, we brought you a live, laidback version of The Avett Brothers’ “The Clearness is Gone,” performed by the band in someone’s attic and videotaped by the traveling production team Live & Breathing. Today, we’re teaming up with Live and Breathing once again to premiere St. Paul & the Broken Bones’ “Half the City,” the title track from the group’s new album of slinky, Southern soul throwbacks.

Feature Story — St. Paul & The Broken Bones: Soul Shakedown Party

“The video was shot last year, during Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion in Bristol, Tennessee,” says company founder Justin Glanville. “We recorded the session in the historic L.C. King factory home of Pointer Brand Jeans, as part of their Centennial celebration. We recorded over 20 incredible bands in 3 days. St. Paul and The Broken Bones stood out immediately, with the unforgettable voice and slide, shuffling dance moves of Paul. These guys are all amazingly talented, and easy to work with! They kept things fun, making each other (as well as us) laugh in between songs, yet still maintaining focus. We thought it was great that the guitar player and drummer wore plaid, and the rest of the band did black and white. That’s Live & Breathing as it should be!”
