Jack White: musician, label owner … professor? Well, not quite, but White will join a group of panelists for a roundtable at Yale University next week.

Yale’s Department of African American Studies put together “Exploring the Rise and Fall of Paramount Records,” a roundtable discussion hosted in conjunction with Third Man Records’ release of Vol. 1 and 2 of The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records: 1917 – 1932.

Other panelists include famed rock journalist Greil Marcus, Dean Blackwood (Relevant Records), Scott Blackwood (Relevant Records), Daphne Brooks (Yale) and Nashville’s own Adia Victoria. The discussion will focus on ” deeper implications and dimensions” of various songs from the anthology, with each panelist selecting specific tracks for the panel to consider.

For those of you in the area, the panel will take place at Yale’s Battell Chapel on October 28 at 7 p.m.
