Spotify Celebrates Black History Month with Four Iconic Artists

To commemorate Black History Month, Spotify is honoring four eclectic and iconic artists for a week each all month long. Starting with the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin is this week’s spotlighted artist, followed by Jimi Hendrix for the week of Feb. 9, Diana Ross for the week of Feb. 16 and finishing with James Brown.

To celebrate each artist, a playlist will be featured that includes the top 20 streamed tracks in the U.S. In addition to the playlists, the service also is introducing the “Influence” tool, which allows users to connect any artist to the Black History Month artist of the week and see how far their influences have spread over the years.
