ARTIST: Kent Goolsby & the Gold Standard

SONG: “This Daddy (Has Run Out of Strut)”

HOMETOWN: Cookeville, Tennessee

CURRENT LOCATION: Nashville, Tennessee

AMBITIONS: Shows, shows & more shows. Bringing my songs to as many folks that will listen.

TURN-OFFS: Table 1 over there talking too loud to hear me crack jokes and sing songs.

TURN-ONS: Table 1 over there being told to hush by other audience members.

DREAM GIG: I recently played the Bluebird, which was a big check off the list. But like most folks in my genre I’d love to play the Ryman one day.

FAVORITE LYRIC: “Don’t approach her with that Atari, that ain’t good game homie, sorry”

SONG I WISH I WROTE: “Souvenirs” – John Prine

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: My wife, Hank Williams, Paul Westerberg, Michael Shannon, and Cormac McCarthy.

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Bruce Springsteen at Bridgestone Arena in 2014. Quite possibly the most religious experience of my life.

I WROTE THIS SONG BECAUSE…I was at a point in my life where I was unquestionably burning the candle at both ends. I wanted to write a song about that experience, but keep it humorous and upbeat. No need to bum yourself out further by writing a slow sad song about a slow sad experience. Swing that beat.
