DREAM GIG: Red Rockswith Death Cab and Bon Iver.

FAVORITE LYRIC: “All my enemies are turning into my teachers…” – Alexander Ebert

SONG I WISH I WROTE: “The Postal Service” – Brand New Colony

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Jared Diamond (author of “The Third Chimpanzee,” “Collapse,” “Guns, Germs, and Steel”). Anyone else would just get in the way.

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: I held Macklemore’s foot when he crowd-surf-walked out on the audience at a show at South by Southwest in 2013. Later he talked about art as a means of expression that can lead to change in ourselves and the world we live in… I’m still pumped on that message.

I WROTE THIS SONG BECAUSE… Religion is a thing to think about. These verses are written from the perspective of a character who is questioning their faith, and the chorus is an affirmation that no matter how hard it gets, we humans have the strength to cowboy up and rock on. I mean, I wrote it because that’s what I do… but that’s what it’s about.
