To cap his first week as the new host of “The Daily Show,” Trevor Noah invited Ryan Adams and his band on the program to perform tracks from the songwriter’s new album 1989, a shoe-gazer’s reimagining of the Taylor Swift pop juggernaut. In one of the clips, Adams tells Noah they recorded and mastered the album in three weeks at his all-analog PAX-AM studio in Los Angeles.

“That’s actually a long time for us,” Adams said. “We don’t do anything on computers. If you can’t do it in real life, you can’t do it at all.”

Watch performances of “Bad Blood,” “Style” and the swoon-inducing “Blank Space” below, and read our cover story on Adams from the November/December 2014 issue.
